Last week, our pupils visited Queen Elizabeth’s Academy to take part in the School Games indoor athletics district qualifiers. This saw Redgate Academy compete for the first time against main stream schools from around the Mansfield and district area.

The event was brilliantly run by the school games organisers, along with staff and students from Queen Elizabeth’s Academy.

Although the team didn’t manage to make it through to the district finals, all pupils gave it their all. They competed in numerous sporting activities on the day, including sprint and obstacle relays, long jump, triple jump and various throwing events.

As always, our pupils showed impeccable behaviour and manners on the day in what was really quite a daunting and noisy environment.

It was fantastic to see our pupils communicating and socialising with other participants and encouraging each other and others until the end. We are proud of every single one of our pupils, whose determination and enthusiasm were clear throughout the event.
